Texas Hunting, Pistol Shooting, and Florida Hunting with J.R. Crosby | On the Horizon Ep. 51

On this week's episode of the On the Horizon podcast, Derrick is joined by Pro MMA fighter, J.R. Crosby.

J.R. is involved with a lot of things, including MMA fighting, teaching college courses in criminology, competitive shooting, and more! He tells us all about how he got into MMA fighting, his past jobs in law enforcement, and his current job as a criminology professor.

Derrick asks J.R. about the Precision shooting he competes in and they talk about the growing pistol community. J.R. describes the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) and what to expect when joining the association. 

J.R. talks about what hunting in his home state of Florida is like and the animals you can expect to hunt there. He also talks about an upcoming Texas Hill Country hunt where he plans to use a recurve bow to take down an Axis and a Père David bull.

Learn about the Raising Alphas Project, a movement whose goal is to form kids into leaders and to implement values in them, and Vote for America, an organization who works to get licensed hunters and farmers/ranchers registered to vote.
